What is there to see in Alicante on a cruise stop?

Earlier this week (Monday, the 2nd March), we kicked off the new 2026 cruise season (YAY!). This is an exciting time for us, guides in Alicante, who have recharged over the winter and are more than ready to welcome you, -arms wide open-, to show you all the amazing things we have to offer.

Like you, we expect thousands of cruise passengers that will stop in Alicante for just a few hours. And while this may seem like a problem, it does not have to be like that if you manage your time properly – that is just the key! And that is why I am here, to help you as much as I can 🙂

The good news is that Alicante is a compact Mediterranean city, which means many of its highlights can be explored easily on foot during a cruise stop.

Here are some of the best things to see if you’re visiting Alicante for a few hours:

The Explanada Promenade

One of the most iconic places in Alicante is the charming seafront promenade lined with palm trees and a mosaic floor made of millions of marble tiles. A glimpse of our Mediterranean lifestyle, and the perfect starting point to your adventure in Alicante!

The Historic Center

The old town of Alicante is full of small streets, colorful houses, and hidden gems.

Walking through the historic center allows you to experience the authentic rhythm of the city and discover some of its most charming corners. If you are a history lover, this will delight you, and if you learn about the civilizations, histories, and traditions that shaped it, beautifully presented by us guides- that is even better!

Santa Bárbara Castle

Overlooking the city from Mount Benacantil, the castle definitely offers the best panoramic views in Alicante, right at your feet.

Many cruise visitors choose to go up to the castle because it combines history with spectacular scenery, and while this is the highest point of Alicante, it is easily reachable with an elevator or shuttle bus, operated by the City Council.

Local Life and Mediterranean Atmosphere

Beyond the main sights, one of the best parts of visiting Alicante is simply «getting lost» in its streets to enjoy the (almost) never-ending sunshine, local terraces, the mouth-watering products at the Central Market, and so on.

Even a short visit can give you a real taste of the city and its hustle and bustle.

Does this sound like your perfect plan? (I hope!)

If so, send me a message and let’s plan your perfect one-day experience in Alicante. I organize walking tours designed especially for cruise passengers, with flexible timing and small groups, always making sure you return to the ship on time.

I’ll help you see the city like a local, even if you’re only here for a few hours!
